Alternative Veterinary Medicine CentreThe Alternative Veterinary Medicine Centre provides Complementary and Alternative Veterinary Medicine (CAVM), including veterinary homeopathy, veterinary acupuncture, veterinary herbal medicine (herbs), aromatherapy (essential oils), Bach flowers, LASER therapy, chiropractic manipulation and natural feeding. These therapeutic modalities are holistic veterinary medicine, in that they address the whole body, mind and spirit, in the context of environmental, dietary, managemental and lifestyle considerations.
The AVMC is situated in rural Oxfordshire, in the Vale of the White Horse. The premises revolves around an old farmhouse, that was the birthplace and family home of the AVMC’s founder, Christopher Day. It was, before that, the centre of his parents’ rural veterinary practice and is therefore steeped in tradition. It provides a relaxed and homely environment, which canine and feline patients appreciate and, for the most part, appear not to interpret as a veterinary premises.
Christopher Day has more than 35 years of experience in alternative veterinary medicine and treated himself with homeopathy, as a child, before that. This experience he brings to bear for the good of his patients, integrating the various therapeutic tools in a harmonious treatment programme. Chris has written eight books himself, on various aspects of natural medicine and has been co-author of many more. He has written many articles and is actively involved in teaching and post-graduate education. He carries out clinical research (i.e. not animal experiments) and he lectures worldwide. He was the first president of the International Association for Veterinary Homeopathy. He was, until 2007, the Hon. Sec. of the British Association of Homeopathic Veterinary Surgeons. He is Veterinary Dean of the Faculty of Homeopathy.
